Before Jesus ascended into heaven, He gave His apostles a mission: “Go and make disciples of all nations.” We call this the Great Commission.
The Church is missionary by its very nature. That means sharing Jesus is not an extra activity; it is what the Church is for.
Every baptized person is sent, not only priests and missionaries. Moms and dads, teachers, nurses, farmers and children all bring Jesus to the places where they live, learn and work.
Jesus said: “You are the light of the world.” We shine His light when we:
- are kind and joyful, so people see God's love in us,
- invite a friend to church or a parish event,
- pray for people who don't know Jesus yet,
- share what we believe when someone asks,
- care for the poor and the lonely.
Saint Paul traveled thousands of miles to share the Gospel, and Saint Francis Xavier brought it all the way to India and Japan. Your mission might begin just across the lunch table!
