Hello! I will read the story to you.

Voices come from your device. If one sounds odd, choose another.

Your First Holy Communion is one of the most special days of your life. Jesus, who loves you, comes to you in the Eucharist!

Holy Communion unites us very closely with Jesus. It gives us strength, helps us turn away from sin and helps us love others.

How do we prepare? We go to Reconciliation so our hearts are clean, we fast for one hour before Communion (water and medicine are fine), and we pray.

How do we receive?

  1. Walk up with your hands folded and your heart ready. Bow your head before you receive.
  2. The priest or minister says: “The Body of Christ.” You answer: “Amen,” which means “Yes, I believe it!”
  3. Receive the Host on your tongue, or in your hand (left hand on top of the right), then step aside and reverently place it in your mouth.
  4. Return to your seat, kneel or sit quietly, and talk to Jesus in your heart.

After your First Communion, you can receive Jesus at every Mass when your heart is ready. He wants to be with you always!
